Tamable?
"Why are you laughing at me?" She asked.
"That smile on your face is so cute. So who is he?"
She hadn't even realized she had been smiling. She didn't even know why. Maybe it was the cool air or how at peace she was.
"Oh, I didn't even realize I was." She said wrapping her arms around her self suddenly self conscious.
"So, who's the lucky man?"
"Actually no one."
She only had one real boyfriend. They lasted only a year. He left her for her ex-best friend. She never really had a true boyfriend after that. She had been on a couple dates', but never gotten serious. School and work always came first.
"Well we better get going looks like a storm coming in." Katie said, shaking.
She never did good in cold weather. especially here in Chicago.
"Alright, I'm famished. Can we go get some soup?"
"Sound's amazing!"
She loved this restaurant, the lighting was calm very relaxing. Warm colors, she was never one for bright colors, unless it was purple.
"I'm so hungry I could eat a horse!" said Katie, biting her fingers'.
"Or you could chew off your finger nail." She smirked.
"Ha very funny."
As the waiter brought their food, she wasn't hungry anymore. She couldn't help from looking up through her lashes at the intimate two tables away. She thought they should get a room, at the same time she couldn't help but admire the love they had for each other.
After dinner Katie dropped her off at her house. She didn't want to be alone but Katie has plan's with her boyfriend Will.
"I'll see you tomorrow, are you going be okay you look sick?"
"Yeah, I'm just sleepy." She lied.
"Alright then, night sis."
"Night."
When she sat down, she turned on the TV. The latest "Sex and the City" re-run was on. She loved this show, no matter how many times' she's seen it, it could always make her laugh. "Why is it so cold?" she said to herself. She decided she would go to bed.
As she lay there she couldn't help but think about the couple at the restaurant. How close they were. How their cheeks flushed, lips' bruised, messy hair. They looked so, in love? She knew that love never lasted. It always ended. At least that's what she's known and grew up with. She often thought about those days', when everything was blurry and the smell of..."Enough." she said. She drifted to sleep.
Dark bags' formed under her eyes. Mostly from lack of sleep. She was pale. She hardly tanned. Even in the summer time, she just burned. It was 6:00am, it's too early for her, but she had to get ready for first day of work. She was excited, although extremely nervous. Fresh out of college, new job so soon. She had no idea why, but they called as soon as she applied.
She decided to go for a fresh look, just some cover up and mascara. She threw her hair in a top bun and left her bang's down. In her closet was a blue pencil skirt. She decided on a cream colored top that matched, and blue pumps. All of her work cloths were nice, but if she had it her way she'd be in sweats and slippers.
As she slipped out the front door she found rain pouring. "Damnit!" She groaned. Taking the news paper from the neighbor she tried to sheild her self from the rain until she could get a taxi. As the taxi pulled up water splashed her leg's. "You've got to be kidding me!"
